Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sleep training is a gentle method to help babies learn how to fall asleep on their own and stay asleep through the night. It's a process parents use to establish consistent sleep routines so your little ones can settle down at bedtime without needing help or without sleep associations, like rocking or feeding.

  • The ideal range to start sleep training is after 5 months old. This is because by 4 months, most babies have begun to develop a more mature sleep pattern, including longer nighttime stretches and more predictable naps. This is the best time to train babies to self sooth so that they are able to connect their sleep cycles and sleep for longer stretches.

  • Yes, absolutely!! I love helping families with twins and multiples find a sleep routine that works for everyone! Supporting parents with more than one little one is truly special!

  • Absolutely, yes. I work with neurodiverse children and children with specific developmental needs. My 14 years of experience as a teacher have been dedicated to working with children of all abilities, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). During that time, I’ve learned so much about creating a supportive and flexible approach that truly respects each child's unique pace and needs.

In addition, I spent several years in a weekend role specifically helping families with autistic children. That experience was invaluable in teaching me how to adapt methods thoughtfully and to recognise the small but powerful steps that can make a big difference for children and their families.

  • Yes, there may be some tears during sleep training—not because I use the "cry it out" method (which I don’t endorse), but simply because babies often don’t like change, and they tend to protest when things feel different. It’s completely normal for little ones to express themselves this way when adjusting to a new sleep routine.

That said, my approach is all about supporting both you and your baby through this transition as gently as possible. I’ll guide you in ways that feel right for your family, providing comfort and reassurance along the way. The goal is always to help your baby feel safe and secure, making the adjustment a bit smoother for everyone involved.

  • Every family and every baby is unique, so when it comes to sleep training, one size definitely does not fit all! I take the time to carefully analyse your baby's sleep logs, looking closely at their current patterns, needs, and any challenges they’re facing. From there, I’ll create a personalised sleep plan that aligns with your family’s comfort level and your goals—whether you’re looking for a gradual approach or are hoping for faster results.

My goal is to design a plan that feels right for you and supports your baby’s natural rhythms, so the whole family can rest easier.

  • Generally, with consistent effort, many families notice positive changes within a few days. Some babies respond more quickly, adjusting within 3-4 days, especially if they’re ready for the changes and the plan is a good fit. For others, especially if a more gradual approach is used, it may take closer to 1-2 weeks to see more settled and consistent sleep patterns.

Every baby is different, so patience and consistency are key! Throughout the process, I’m here to provide guidance and adjust the plan as needed to make sure your family feels supported every step of the way.

  • Absolutely! I understand that sleep training is a journey, and sometimes families need a little extra support even after the initial period is over. I offer follow-up support options so you can feel confident and secure as you continue with your child’s sleep routine. This could include check-in calls, additional guidance for any new sleep challenges, or support as your child moves through different developmental stages.

  • Not at all! You absolutely can continue your breastfeeding journey while working towards better sleep for your baby. Sleep training and breastfeeding are very compatible, and there’s no need to choose one over the other. We can create a sleep plan that respects your breastfeeding goals and still supports your baby in developing healthy sleep habits.

As a breastfeeding mama myself, I know firsthand how important that journey is and the desire not to end it prematurely. For some babies, nighttime feeds may gradually reduce as they learn to self-soothe, but this can happen naturally and at a pace that feels comfortable for you both. My approach prioritises both your baby’s sleep needs and your breastfeeding relationship, so you can keep nourishing and bonding with your baby while working towards restful nights.

  • Having other children or needing to leave for school runs doesn't have to affect the success of the sleep plan. Life is busy, and I totally understand that you have other responsibilities. The sleep plan I create will be tailored to fit your family’s unique routine, including things like school runs or caring for other children.

The goal is to make sure the sleep training process is as smooth and flexible as possible, without adding unnecessary stress. With a little creativity and consistency, we can adjust the plan so that it works for your entire family’s lifestyle. Plus, I’ll be here to support you and help you troubleshoot if anything feels tricky along the way!
